Top 10 Reasons to Buy a Mosin-Nagant!

What's a Mosin Nagant you ask? It's a huge, old-school bolt-action rifle made by the millions in Russia, WWII Era. Here's a whole bunch of reasons why I believe you are a stupid person if you don't buy at least one of them.

1) Guaranteed good investment. I've seen them on sale at sporting goods stores for as little as $79. You should easily be able to find one for $100 or less. They are not making more of these. The supply will never increase, and the demand for guns will not go away in your lifetime... hence... a guaranteed good investment. Better than putting money in a bank with 0% interest, or a piece of paper like a stock which can go to $0 overnight (I'm not bitter about the stocks I bought in 2007, no, not at all). The Mosin will always be there, and can be passed down for generations.

2) They work! They function great! They're pretty enough to put on display, but cheap enough to use and abuse! This is an extremely durable, and reliable gun. Sure to go bang every time you pull the trigger.

3) Power! They shoot a potent round 7.62x54r which is similar ballistically to the American legendary 30-06 Caliber. You can buy quality soft-point ammo from Winchester and take it hunting for anything North American can throw at you.

3) Accuracy! I have no problem hitting dinner plate sized targets standing unsupported with crappy ammo and the stock iron sights at 100+ yards. Trust me, they shoot straight and a good shooter will be able to wring very respectable accuracy out of this gun. A scoped version of this gun is what Russian snipers used for decades and they recorded kills out to 1000 meters with it.

4) They're so cheap! Ok, this kind of goes back to point #1. You get a large caliber, military quality firearm for the price of a BB gun!

5) Ammo is cheap too! Surplus Russian Ammo can be found for about 1/5th the cost of U.S. made new stuff. Currently it's pretty easy to find the 440 round Russian or Bulgarian Spam Cans for around $90. That's practically a lifetime of shooting for less than $100 (trust me you won't shoot this beast more than 20-30 times on any given trip to the range). If you buy surplus corrosive ammo, just make sure you clean your gun after you get home from  the range to keep your bore in good shape. Or, you can buy non-corrosive Russian ammo for about $5-8 for a box of 20 rounds. Premium American hunting ammo is about $1 per shot, but that's too expensive to shoot paper at the range with in my opinion.

6) Everyone needs a real rifle! This is America, baby! Celebrate that you don't live in England and buy a gun! Freedom is a beautiful thing... freedom in this country was purchased and is maintained by good rifle-toting citizens. Let's continue this beautiful tradition and participate in safe, responsible gun ownership. Learn how to shoot and teach your kids someday.

7) This is the rifle that helped defeat the Nazi's! How cool is that? Ever watched the awesome war movie 'Enemy at the Gates'? The Russian hero sniper used a scoped Mosin Nagant! You own history when you own a Mosin, and most of them have 'seen action'. I imagine if the gun could speak, and you spoke Russian, you'd hear some crazy stories.

8) Easy to take care of and easy to tinker with. Cleaning takes no tools, just unload gun, pull the bolt rearward, and pull the trigger and the bolt assembly slides right out the back. Then you just run a cleaning rod all the way through the gun, run a patch of oil through, and you're good to go! Total disassembly can be done with just a flat head screwdriver and is super duper easy. Also, if you're a tinkerer, you can do lots of easy little free upgrades like refinishing the wood, etc... to make it really pretty.

9) They come with a bayonet! That's right, you get a rifle... plus a free spear! When you run out of ammo you can run around stabbing and bludgeoning everything in sight like a Klingon warlord! Plus, it makes your already ridiculously long rifle even longer!

10) Chicks dig em! You should have seen the smile on Melissa's face the first time she shot it. It's an experience like no other. It's one of her favorite rifles to shoot. She even commented on how much she liked the smell after the shot. Your wife will surely recognize you are a sophisticated, classy gun collector when you bring home the Mosin.
